Not good when the older generation condemns you

In the video, that as of Monday morning had been shared more than 210,200 times, the Russian woman tells a journalist: "I am 82 years old. But I can't look at what our country is turning into. The whole world hates us now—only because of this ghoul, forgive me. Putin is war. Without a war, he will not stay in power. Putin is total theft, corruption."

NewsGuard’s 2022 Social Impact Report
NewsGuard issued its first “social impact report” in 2022. The report championed NewsGuard’s provision of tools that would promote “online safety for readers, brands, and democracies.” Its CEOs proudly state a mission to fight false claims of “Nazis running Ukraine’s government and Americans running bioweapons labs in Ukraine,” COVID-19 misinformation, and misinformation surrounding the mid-term elections.

According to the report, “more than 938,200 people were exposed to COVID-19 vaccine myths between Oct. 2021-Feb. 2022 on social media.” The report also reveals NewsGuard’s exposure of “pink slime sites pushing Democratic propaganda in battleground states ahead of the midterm elections.”

Meanwhile, @ the 5-7 day war, Russia is still struggling to take the city of Bakhmut - a 50-minute drive from the Russian Border (about 60 miles into Ukraine). This isn't your "Defenders of Stalingrad" army - these Russians are pathetic. if it weren't so tragic on both sides, it would be funny, that after 400 days of fighting, with superior firepower (at least initially - changing now) the Russians haven't cleared 60 miles of territory from the Russian border. & we have full-on nutjobs like MacGregor running around saying "Russia has won!!"

CDE is down $0.22 or 6.89% to $2.91 on heavy volume that exceeded its daily average by +50.32%. This performance is worse than the broader averages as the S&P 500 is down -0.28% on the day.

Oilboiler - nothing is fixed re Russia. They lost this war when they couldn't knock out Ukraine in the first 30 days. Now they are in a war of attrition with their puny $2T economy versus the combined West annual economy at about $43T. It's now about the math - play ostrich all you want and post moronic idiots like MacGregor et al to sooth your soul if it helps. if the West is struggling to keep ammunition in the hands of the Ukrainians & it is, the Russians are in "deepest of doo" re maintaining their troops. Now we'll see if China bails them out - which is what Adolf Pootee is now doing - begging China to come to his rescue - it's his only hope, or pretty soon the Russian ground-troops are going to be fighting with clubs & rocks et al

Russia's Wagner Chief Accuses Defense Ministry Of Treason As Spat Widens

BY TYLER DURDEN
TUESDAY, FEB 21, 2023 - 10:00 PM
Going back to the battle of Soledar, when Wanger Group was reportedly the first to enter the city and claim victory for itself, there's been a widening rift between the mercenary outfit with links to Putin and the regular Russian military.

The rift widened this week in a spat which is going increasingly public, as Wagner's founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, often referred to as "Putin's chef", accused the defense ministry and its Chief of the General Staff of purposefully blocking badly needed munitions to Wagner fighters.

Victoria Nuland Clarifies That US Supports Ukrainian Attacks On Crimea

BY TYLER DURDEN
TUESDAY, FEB 21, 2023 - 11:26 AM
Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,

Victoria Nuland, the undersecretary of state for political affairs, said last week that the US is “supporting” Ukrainian attacks on Crimea and called Russian military installations on the peninsula "legitimate targets."

Nuland made the comments when asked about a report from The New York Times that was published in January and said the Biden administration was "warming" to the idea of helping Ukraine attack Russia despite the risk of escalation.

For many years the Rhineland area had been a key industrial region of Germany, producing coal, steel and iron resources.

The Rhineland also formed a natural barrier to its neighbour and rival, France. In the event of a war, the River Rhine, if properly defended, would be a difficult obstacle for an invading force to cross.

One of the terms of the Treaty of Versailles was that the Germans would not be able to keep military forces in a 50 km stretch of the Rhineland. Hitler resented this term as it made Germany vulnerable to invasion. He was determined to enlarge his military capability and strengthen his borders.

In 1935, Hitler revealed that he had built up an air force and signed the Anglo-German Naval Agreement that allowed him to enlarge his naval forces.

In 1936, Hitler boldly marched 22,000 German troops into the Rhineland, in a direct contravention of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler offered France and Britain a 25 year non-aggression pact and claimed 'Germany had no territorial demands to make in Europe'.

09:43 AM EST, 02/01/2023 (MT Newswires) -- Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (FSM.NaE) on Wednesday said its Seguela gold project located in Cote d'Ivoire is about 90% complete as of the end of January and remains on track and on budget for first gold pour in mid-2023.

The mining company said SAG mill installation is nearing completion, the tailing storage facility earthworks and HDPE lining are almost complete, and commissioning of the fuel depot is complete. Grid connection and energization of the high voltage substation is also complete, Fortuna said.

The company said grade control drilling is underway and mining activities are expected to commence in February. It also said operational readiness has increasingly become the focus in preparation for commissioning of the processing plant, which is due to commence early in the second quarter of 2023.

"Construction activities are nearing completion despite worldwide supply chain challenges... commissioning remains on schedule for Q2 2023," said David Whittle, Chief Operating Officer - West Africa.

Fortuna also said negotiations with the Cote d'Ivoire government are continuing in order to finalize the terms of the mining convention.

Separately, National Bank of Canada said it was "encouraged" to see on-time, on-budget status continues into the home stretch with about five months before first pour. Critical path items including SAG mill installation are largely de-risked, it noted. Overall, the bank ascribed a neutral bias to Fortuna.

The bank said that as per the Feasibility Study of May 2021 mine plan, it models company-wide free cash flow in H2 2023 of about $113 million at spot, increasing in 2024 to $277 million at 25% free cash flow yield. This provides visibility to progress on deleveraging the bank's mid-2023 total debt estimates of $228 million, including $165 million drawn on the company's $200 million revolving credit facility, it said.

National Bank maintained its Sector Perform rating on Fortuna and the $6.00 target price.

So far, little bounce, but not sure I trust it - we need some giddy-up soon, or we're going south of $1850

Really need this to hold ST, but not optimistic - one more trip to $1850 & we're headed south

Yes, the CPI will likely come in hotter than expected, but positioning is once again overly bearish and absent a major repricing lower, we may just get another squeeze.

Norwester - to keep us out of a sub-$1850 run, we need to match or beat on MOM from December

In December, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers decreased 0.1 percent, seasonally adjusted, and rose 6.5 percent over the last 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.3 percent in December (SA); up 5.7 percent over the year (NSA).

Norwester, very sad. Worked downtown for 2 years 1986-88 when I was a pup - loved going to Seattle, even with the Bridge traffic which even then was stop & go everyday. Lunches at the Pike Place or Ivars. Can't go back & see it like this.

Stocks, Bonds, & Gold Slammed As 'Fed Pivot' Party Crashes

FRIDAY, FEB 10, 2023 - 04:01 PM
Goldman sums up the week's equity trading succinctly:

This week has been most aggressive aggregate net selling across HFs and LO$ on the year (Monday-Thursday) by a factor of 4x. LOs showed the largest weekly net selling since the first week of 2023, but HFs added to this selling dynamic as well, selling the most in a week since mid-Dec of ’23

looks like we have CPI over-hang - comes out Tuesday. Bidenites need to make sure its "Disinflationary" & back up Jerome.

Touch down to $1850 & a wee bounce. But PM stocks aren't buying it - see what Monday brings. Typically, we go down hard day in front of CPI, but this is looking more like "sold out" in advance. Hoping, $1850 - old resistance holds

The mainstream media cheered the news that the U.S. economy added 517,000 jobs last month. Sadly, that just isn’t true. According to reports and the St. Louis Federal Reserve, the US economy actually lost 2.5 million jobs in January.

Via Rich Dvorak: “The Not Seasonally Adjusted print for monthly change in Nonfarm Payrolls was -2.5 million jobs. That means the headline +517K employment gain reported in January was driven entirely by a +3 million seasonal adjustment

The war is lost': Former Putin speechwriter predicts military 'coup' in Russia
Story by Alex Henderson • 9h ago

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/the-war-is-lost-former-putin-speechwriter-predicts-military-coup-in-russia/ar-AA16ZhoQ?ocid=entnewsntp&cvid=f20da9cb32874cb994fd67f19d27b9fe

Militarily and politically as well as economically, the war in Ukraine has been a major drain on Russia. President Vladimir Putin and his allies in the Kremlin were hoping for a quick, easy invasion, but Ukrainian forces have been much more skillful fighters than Putin anticipated.

During a Monday, January 30 appearance on CNN, the 50-year-old Gallyamov argued that because of all the hardship the war is causing in Russia, Putin will likely be removed from power via a military coup.

Gallyamov told CNN’s Erin Burnett, “The Russian economy is deteriorating. The war is lost. There are more and more dead bodies returning to Russia; so, Russians will be coming across more difficulties, and they'll be trying to find an explanation why this is happening, looking around to the political process. And they'll be answering themselves: 'Well, this is because our country is governed by an old tyrant, an old dictator.’”
