We always get raids like this before a major move up. This one caught me unprepared. Normally I sell 1/3 of my shares into strength. I'm not selling any shares but the raid is showing me the weak hands in my portfolio that I will sell when the break even opportunity arises. Even miners that make a nice profit and offer dividends are being crushed. This too shall pass.

$BPGDM

Presuming POG is still in a bull market. I would expect the $BPGDM to find support near the 52 level. I’ve retained all my PM shares and plan to add to positions soon.

Good to see you post again. Today might be end of month window dressing in the POG. Seasonally it’s at a top. I expect a drop over the next few weeks with risk down to about $1840. Maybe the next Fed meeting is a bottom. I expect shares to outperform as the POG moves down. Russia was the catalyst for this POG breakout. Im not selling any shares. The risk is being out. Thanks for your opinion.

Saddened to hear but thank you for posting the obituary. I remember conversing with Trotsky many years ago. He followed volume of the Rydex funds as a gauge of sentiment and got me interested as well. At some point though it became too difficult to get that data and I stopped tracking it. Bull markets with PMs take generation. We have lost so many good posters here due to age/illness. Wherever you are Trotsky thank for sharing your knowledge and rest in peace.

The gold share indexes this year remind me a little of the 1987 stock market crash. The XAU double bottomed in Mar/Apr, then topped in June. Then a 31% decline into October followed by what may be a double bottom forming here in Dec. In 1987, the Dow-SPX double bottomed in Apr/May, then topped in Aug. Then a 35% decline into October followed by a double bottom in Dec. 1987 was a steeper move down but the percentage drop fairly similar. Of course the good news is the 1987 Dow bottomed near 1750 right where the POG is today. The Dow 34 years later in 2021 just hit near 37K. Will the POG trade near 37K in 2055? :)

G

I'll have to live to 100 to find out.

Another trashing from the highs this morning particularly in the shares. Another upside whisker on the POG chart. Sorry wolavka, the third time was not a charm. The PTB are serious about keeping POG down. Ugh...

Third time in the last few days the POG has been up nicely overnight. Last two times POG was hammered down whack-a-mole style immediately before of after the NY open creating upside whiskers on the chart.

https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=%24GOLD&p=D&b=5&g=0&id=p07519082052

Will the third time be a charm or does it get whacked again today?

If Powell said the risk of price pressures has increased, adding that it’s time to retire the word “transitory” regarding inflation, I would think this a very bullish statement in favor of the POG. Yet it sold off?

Absolutely! And especially more recently. If someone had told me 10 years ago where the Stockmarket, POG/POS, Bitcon, interest rates, inflation, is today I would have laughed. I'm not laughing now. I'm completely amazed.

Add to that the Federal deficit, and the XAU/POG ratio.

I'll check out the presentation but I did read this one from a few days ago on 321.

https://thedailygold.com/gold-gold-stocks-to-test-overhead-resistance/

It looks like the current POG is outperforming the analog. I guess that means worse case scenario POG could drop to the $1800 analog level before a breakout in Mar.

A few shares are breaking to new highs already WDOFF and ARNGF come to mind. Many more are testing upper resistance but no breakout yet. As always there's still plenty of dogs that refuse to hunt. Speaking of dogs FSM comes to mind. That dog is laying in the dirt on its back playing dead.

Thanks for posting the presentation!

Frus I have no doubt the items you list have had an increased effect. I have noticed an increase in volatility particularly since the recent 6.2% CPI announcement made on Nov. 10. The POG seems to be bouncing $10 in minutes with mini shakeouts. I agree with you that it will get worse. Probably with a greater frequency of more than 1% up/down days in the not too distant future.

The HUI is presently at the 278 level. If I had to guess, I anticipate a move to 300, the top of the downtrend channel. From there a drop down to the 200-day ma about 270. Then a rise up to 330 followed by another decline to about 290. Then a rise to the old highs from last year at 370 or so completing the right side cup formation. I would anticipate this to happen before the end of Feb. next year. The cup will then need a handle to form in Mar., Apr., and possibly out to May of next year with a final bottom near 330 or so.  Then the real fireworks begin to the upside. I think the math works and this works with seasonality.

FSM
Closed at 3.87 just above its recent prior 2 lows of 3.81 and 3.74. It would be reasonable to expect some kind of bounce here at least temporarily forming a triple bottom. Apollo has posted many times over the years how triple bottoms seldom hold. If AF is correct in his #629 post perhaps after that bounce the price needs to close the May 15 2020 gap at 3.44. That price might come close to dropping the market cap to 1.2B. Either way I’m going to hold my position.

I recently went through a 36% decline in MYAGF, and 23% in MGDPF. I used them as buying opportunities and they've come back like champs. FSM is down 31% the last two days. Although I have a little larger position this too shall pass. If FSM gets too cheap I trust it will become a takeover candidate.
