Hell yes!! This needs to be the USA standard operation procedure. Crime rates
would have to drop. The guy probably left because he wasn't legally able to have a gun is my guess. Or maybe he was just shy

4902....lonestar.....I have two cousins who live the the Houston area....both of them have had "incidents" occur with, in one case, a break in at their home and, for another, an attempted theft of a ski boat he had parked alongside his garage...His Chesapeake Retreiver let out enough barking that he flipped on the front yard lights and the perps dropped the trailer and boat taking off down the block....his only disappointment was that he hadn't walked out with his 12 gauge and given them a few rounds.....

I did. Not sure where gold runs into problems. So far, treating this as a trader’s market.

Too soon?   Could be.  But eases my mind a bit.

Volatility is rising.

Seeing more and more about gold in the media.  Not a good sign.  Doubt the move is over just yet, though.

I really have stuff I want to buy but won’t chase.   4th quarter PM earnings should be miserable.  Sure would like to get those out of the way.

As for the stock market, I did post about this rally but don’t trust it for long unless the Fed really does fold.  Will they?

Very sketchy markets right now....Gold has support around $1850., but, if that fails, we could certainly see a slide down to $1825. -- or even $1805.!  Sludge seems to have a bit of support at $23.60, but below that, $23.40 and $23.30 as the line in the sand....

Despite Dollar weakness, I don't expect much "action" until the CPI is released on Thursday....it will, of course, likely be "massaged" to fit the designs/needs of the Fed....

I just hedged out some of my positions against the CPI release on Thursday - we need to get through that without drama before we go higher. But definitely expect some selling ahead of the release.

I'd get back into the Silver market, IF it'll drop another $.35-$.40 down near that $23.30 area....with sell stops likely at $23.10 if it caved in.....

1. A child who is a brat and a bully must be punished or be isolated so they can’t harm other children. The US government has become the world’s largest brat, using fiat and debt to relentlessly bully citizens at home and in faraway lands. What happens now?

2. Well, it appears that a few congressmen have forced Kevin McCarthy to become a listener more than a speaker. That likely means the days of a US government mouse that roars are coming to an end.

3. For currency investors, the big theme of the next decade (and probably the next 200 years) will be gold.

House passes bill to defund IRS agents.

It’s a meaningless political gesture as the Senate won’t pass it and Biden would veto.  Don’t you just love propaganda?

Doncha just love the "massaging" of reality that Kaliphonia seems to develop, as in this description of some homeless folks killed during the recent windstorms/flooding:

"SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. —
Two people who were killed in storm-related deaths over the weekend in Sacramento County were identified by the coroner’s office on Monday.

Both were unhoused and were found with trees on top of their tents, officials said."

..."unhoused"?!?!  so, is that the new woke term for 'homeless'??? sheesh....

Maybe. But I was thinking about the resulting belief of easing pressure on the Fed to raise rates.  If that was the case I’d think gold and silver would do well.

Ah.  It’s all conjecture anyway.

Insurrection Anybody?

https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/insurrection-anybody/

A great mob of many thousands went apeshit in Brazil over the weekend in that country’s weird, geographically isolated capital, Brasilia, a horror of 1960s-style Modernist city planning. They stormed the national congress and trashed the offices within to protest the fishy election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva over the former incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. As in our own country, the quarrel was over the mysterious behavior of voting machines and the unwillingness of election officials or courts to verify the results. The New York Times offered a thumbnail of Mr. Bolsonaro, who is sitting out the current action in Florida:

The resulting picture showed an elected leader, first as a congressman and then as president, who has built a narrative of fraudulent elections based on inaccuracies, out-of-context reports, circumstantial evidence, conspiracy theories and downright falsehoods — much like former President Donald J. Trump.”

Get it? There’s no way fraud could have happened, just like in our country. And Bolsonaro is another Trump. It explains everything. All complaints are “baseless,” “false,” and “conspiracy theories.” End-of-story…. Are these shopworn tropes maybe losing their mojo? And is The New York Times embarrassing itself, a little bit, to trot them out as if they are actually arguments against anything?

The truth is more that Mr. Lula is another Hugo Chavez, poised to wreck Brazil with a fresh attempt at nationalizing all enterprise, ramping up a Marxist police state, and inviting China to partner-up in the action, including new Chinese military bases in the western hemisphere — an interesting challenge to the Monroe Doctrine (if anyone remembers what it says). And so, Mr. Lula has arrested hundreds of protesters and declared a national emergency.

Don’t expect it to stop there. The protesters are asking the army to intervene, as Brazil’s constitution actually obligates them to do in election disputes. Also, unlike the USA, Brazil has plenty of prior experience with the army removing elected leaders. Sometimes, electing yourself into tyranny is not the best way to solve economic problems. For the moment, Mr. Lula borrows a page from the American Left’s playbook for destroying a society. It will matter a lot if he doesn’t get away with it. That’s why the US political Swamp, and its errand boys in the news media, look on the action in Brazil with alarm. Unlike the January 6 protest in Washington, the Brasilia mob represents a genuine insurrection aimed at overthrowing a communist seizure of power.

NW1  they are called unhoused here as well. Part of WOKE agenda. In fact the City here is expected to remove all the unhoused here from the set up of tents they have in downtown forest. It is right beside a drug distribution center. D Day is Wednesday at 500PM local.

ARIS - catching a bid - finally. Got beat down on the merger with GCM. TPRXF continues to trade occasionally in the money - great leverage to ARIS stock, where it trades right now makes no sense - SB trading around $1.75. I own a lot of it - quietly acquired in small buys over about a four-month period since the merger and 2022 yearend.

just thinking out loud

From a vantage point looking at the last 150 years when A COUNTRY MONETIZES DEBT the markets Go UP^
not down.Just can't get passed that....Until the complete collapse from Money printingWeimer real estate went up along with their stock Market.

Unless something new emerges(duel currency)Old currency devalues quickly going forward while new digital currency improves in value Very complicated for the holder of old currency who eventually will pay more and more of his old currency to convert it into new currency until old currency  is valued at zero or near it

I have seen this put forward so not impossible. But real investments will appreciate in old currency but in reality the old currency is just losing its value.

the new Digital currency will be stable or increase as the old currency holders sell old currency for New currency because at some point they will awake to the Rigged game and throw in the towel

Ben, that's about right. In Germany the value of cash fell off the face of the earth.
I have read that people that did buy stocks made some "money" as they represented real things. Things are real, paper is BS. I bought our home for $82,700 in Nov 1999 or 276 Au ozs. @$1,877 the 276 ozs is worth over $517,000 today. I guess the house is maybe worth $240,000 or about 128 ozs today. Gold is winning. When everything turns to crap, well then EVERYTHING's price will have to drop to clear the markets prices.
Even us bugs are not going to like that day. We will be much better off, if we can find something to buy. Wish I had a place like Cherokee.

So still no snow here, more rain. The local TV news featured a photo of a garter snake coming out of hibernation in January. Going skiing in Quebec. They have snow.

So, Apollo, presuming that "flawless indicator" is correct and the CPI does come in at a lower than expected rate (expecting -0.1% ) then, should we be prepared for a sell-off in the metals, or might they follow the stock market quickly?  I would think, with any indicator of lessening inflation, the metals would sag, no?

The massaged CPI will be 'lower than expected' and the FED will still raise by 50 basis points much to the howls of indignation. You can count on it because I just told you.  You are in dreamworld if you expect a 'pivot'.

4976....I don't think anyone here was expecting a "pivot" to result IF the CPI came in dramatically lower, at least I hope they weren't.....Personally, I doubt we'll see that even suggested by the Fed for at least the following 4-5 months....we'll see....they may surprise us, but I doubt it.....there are 3 Fed presidents speaking, as well, tomorrow, from the Philadelphia, Richmond, and aSt. Louis branches, so there may be some comments therein that give us a clue as to what lies ahead....maybe...

RE:RE:Golden Cross for OSK
the drop today does seem to be over done given the  gold price .   all of what you were told about delays is true . and the way things are set up in canaduh we can prob expect more delays because of the gov . in my experience , the mines always take longer and cost more to get up and running . ....for what its worth , this is from the  current  stansberry gold stock analyst letter .......We see Osisko/ Windfall as a juicy plum and expect suitors will emerge midyear after permitting and financing are set. Leading contenders will be Kinross Gold (KGC) and Centerra Gold (CGAU), we think...............  they have a $6.00 u.s. target on it WWe

https://henrymakow.com/2023/01/mike-stone-people-make-me-puke.html

A friend of mine "died suddenly" last week. He was double-jabbed and boosted and a truth denier. Like all truth deniers, he fawned over celebrities and believed everything he saw on television or read in a newspaper, no matter how outlandish.

There was numerous times when I'd tell him something that went against his belief system and he'd smile and shake his head, but if someone on television or an authority figure told him the exact same thing, then it was gospel.

My dead friend represents tens of millions of Americans and hundreds of millions of people around the world. They live in a world so far removed from reality they might as well be living on another planet.

You probably know people like that yourself. Maybe you think someday they'll come around if only you keep after them, keep sending them videos and articles and evidence of reality. I'm here to tell you they are not coming back. Not now. Not ever. They actually prefer living in a world of fiction.

Even worse are those who know what's going on to some degree, but refuse to do anything about it. For the past three years they have continued to fly, continued to visit places like Disneyland and Las Vegas, continued to patronize the companies pushing the virus hoax and continued to hold stock in those companies. I ask you, are they any different from enemy collaborators?

No Honey, I don't think we'll need to borrow any money to stay afloat.

"Racist" is a toolword. You must know that.
Any objective examination of the effect of "them" has to lead you to the behavior and ideology that is now termed, "racist."

Refute if you can.

Saw Beck at Wolf-Trapp couple years ago - stellar show. Laughed when he did "Superstition".  Beck backed up Stevie Wonder on one of his albums in exchange for Stevie writing a song for him - he wrote Superstition. But before Beck finished his next album with Superstition on it, Wonder released the solo - Beck was PO'd to his dying day

"After finishing the song, Wonder decided that he would indeed let Beck record it first-with his newly formed power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice-in accordance with their agreement. But after the trio’s debut album was delayed, Wonder ended up releasing his version of “Superstition” first-and it went all the way to No 1"

Nancy Wilson & what's left of Heart was the warm-up act - they were awful. Nancy can no longer sing.
