The Never-Ending Lie

https://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=247602

Just as people love to bunch Social Security and Medicare together and claim the problem is "entitlements!" when in fact Social Security is not the problem at all; it is Medicare and Medicaid, both driven by the rapacious nature of the medical industry and all of which is subject to, and can be stopped by, law that has been on the books for more than 100 years you see the same bleating, and the same intentional falsehood, when it comes to the response put forward when a new and "novel" virus showed up.

The eleventh chapter of The Road to Serfdom is entitled “The End of Truth,” about the historical imperative in all totalitarian states throughout history to destroy freedom of speech so that the only true belief is “the social plan” imposed by the state, whatever that may be.  This is achieved by relentless institutionalized lying and propaganda, coupled with harsh censorship of all contrary ideas or even questions about the propriety of forcefully imposing one single “social plan.” This is American society today, in other words, in case you haven’t noticed.  (Socialism, Hayek said, has always been about substituting the plans of politicians for the plans that all of the citizens make for themselves.  It’s not a matter of planning versus no planning, but who is to do the planning).

Why The Left Must Destroy Free Speech... Or Be Destroyed

Totalitarians who go toe-to-toe with truth always lose, eventually...

Sunday...(Name of a soul-gripping English movie--"Sunday, bloody Sunday" that no one would dare make today)...Anyways, there I was for my usual throw-back under the ancient Tree (date to 1888)...The sky was a washed grey, the news were iff-ish..global politics worse. Frau Merkel admits to lying... at the highest levels of NATO...Germany is handing out  camper homes to 'refugees' (freeloaders, if you ask me),,, UK is preparing 'warm' spaces  for 16M of the population to seek shelter in when the REAL cool winter arrives (-10deg C, about 12 F)...So what's new? What has the past 200 years European history been about?

A new label on the slivovitz bottle, that's the news of the day.  Taken mid-morning in the filtered light under the jacaranda...beats Hemingway's cognac in a clean, well-lighted place.

"Racist" is a toolword. You must know that.
Any objective examination of the effect of "them" has to lead you to the behavior and ideology that is now termed, "racist."

Refute if you can.

The U.S. power grid is comprised of three smaller grids. One grid powers the East Coast to the Rocky Mountains while another serves people from the Rockies to the Pacific. The last grid is the state of Texas.  Each of these individual grids is comprised of a network of power producing facilities, tens of thousands of miles of transmission lines, and hundreds of substations, bringing power to your home and business.

A key piece of the energy chain is the high-voltage transformer (HVT).  HVTs “step-up“ and “step-down” voltage of newly generated electricity for transmission and distribution reasons.  The voltage is increased or stepped-up to transmit over long distances and then is decreased or stepped-down to be distributed to homes.  Without these HVTs, it would be nearly impossible to supply the US with electricity.  These HVTs are peculiarly vulnerable to attacks from man and nature.  These transformers weigh between one and four hundred tons and cost up to eight million dollars. The Department of Energy estimated it could take up to 20 months for the larger HVTs to be built. What would the US look like without power for 2 months, let alone 1 year?

A guy on coast 2 coast mentioned the other nite no electricity for a year and 200 million citizens would die

work over time with insurance industry/mort cos to force policy holders to upgrade their coverage. your dwelling is under insured based on replacement costs per sq ft.

increase that payment with the property taxes.

Life is SO confusing.....can we get answers to these ?
•    We don’t let athletes bet on games they have the ability to influence.  Why do we allow Congress to invest in companies they regulate?
•    Why is it that when archeologists find human remains, they always determine that they are either male or female and none of the other hundreds of genders?
•    Why is it that so many are more outraged that Brittney Griner was stuck in Russia than they were about Americans being stranded in Afghanistan?
•    How is it that the government can’t control gasoline prices…but the weather is something they can fix?
 •    We’re churning out a generation of poorly educated people with no skill, no ambition, no guidance, and no realistic expectations of what it means to go to work.—Mike Rowe
•    If kids knew what they wanted to be at age eight, the world would be filled with cowboys and princesses.  I wanted to be a pirate.  Thank goodness nobody took me seriously and scheduled me for eye removal and peg leg surgery—Bill Maher
 •    Why were we told to lower our AC usage on hot days to prevent overwhelming the electric grid while simultaneously being told to trade in our gas cars for electric vehicles?
•    Why is canceling student debt a good idea?  Does it make sense to reward people who do not honor their financial commitment by taxing the people who do?
•    Does it make sense to cut off oil from an ally and buy it from an enemy who calls for your death?
•    Are we living in a time where intelligent people are silenced so that stupid people won’t be offended?
•    Is this a great description of America:  Andy has left town and Barney is in charge?
•    Why is talking sexually in the workplace considered sexual harassment to adults…but talking about sexuality to children K-3 at school considered education?
•    Who else had a ‘ministry of truth”…Hitler…Goebbels…Stalin
•    Eliminating the production of 500,000 American barrels of oil a day to buy 500,000 barrels a day from Russia is simply…well…stupid.
•    I saw a movie where only the police and military had guns; it was called Schindler’s List.
•    If your electric car runs out of power on the interstate, do you walk to a charging station to get a bucket of electricity?
•    Why are we running out of money for Social Security and Medicare and not for welfare, illegals and free college?
•    I just got a full tank of gas for $22.  Granted, it was for my lawn mower, but I am trying to stay positive.
•    There is a coin shortage.  America is officially out of common sense.
•    If an 18 year old isn’t mature enough to own a firearm, then maybe five year olds aren’t mature enough to change their gender
•    Sign in Texas:  DON’T VOTE FOR WHAT YOU FLED
•    Nobody called it “Toxic Masculinity when we were saving the world.
•    Mice die in mouse traps because they do not understand why the cheese is free.  Just like socialism.
•    The most powerful governments on earth can’t stop a virus from spreading…but they say they can change the earth’s temperature if you pay more taxes.
•    Want to stop drunk drivers from killing sober drivers?  Ban sober drivers from driving.  That’s how gun control and COVID lockdowns work.
•    If you don’t want to stand for the national anthem, perhaps you should give your legs to a veteran who lost his.  That way a real man can stand in your place.
•    If socialism is so good and capitalism is so bad…then why aren’t the caravans heading to Venezuela?
.
....so many confusing questions....sigh....

3837....hmmm...I don't see $1770. as a probable target IF gold  breaks $1774. -- I've got it likely dropping to $1763-$1766. area.....close, however, to that $1770. area....IF we fall thru there, though, $1750-$1755. will come into play....

I can clearly remember my dad telling me that if all the money was taken away from the well to do and distributed to the poor, within 3 to 4 years it would return to the same hands as before and the poor would be just as much in debt as they are now.

If we are going to do away with paper money would not the mint have received the instructions to stop the printing machine….?

yes... you can rig suction and discharge ducts into the house/room and the entire unit can outside a window.  I installed a piece of plywood over a window and made a penetration with a metal collar for the hot discharge line.  It runs so efficiently you literally cannot smell any diesel fumes.  Only diesel smell comes from YOU spilling it...

Here's a pic of a one hour install in the man cave window... has a 5 liter tank and a remote control.  Running it off of a 12V 80Ah battery with a smart charger to tend to the battery

It's rated at 5Kw.... 5,000 watts @ 120V...
40 Amps of heating capability... that's HUGE from such a tiny efficient device.  Hot air discharge CFM and temp output(5 levels) is nothing short of amazing.  I've been around all types of heat exchangers/heaters/blowers... this one takes the cake and grand prize for maximum generation compared to required minimum input.

Modest beat across the board - CPI weaker. Month X Month number is the best beat 0.10% versus consensus of 0.30%

Sold some stuff on the spike.

Now we focus on FOMC

Why do some of you gentlemen here posit so convincingly and earnestly that numbers, e.g. 1715, 1720, 1750, 1780...constitute some markers along POG's meandering route...yet, every now and then (like today) POG kicks sand in your face. Given the number of wrong predictions, may I suggest that you change your conceptual framework and techniques of quantitative prediction? Some of us lesser abled investors would like to access more reliable assessments.

Well…

Knew yesterday shorting the DOW was dangerous.  It’s OK.  Better now than later.  Everything is beautiful and we’re heading straight up?  Doubt it once the recession hits.

And it will.  If not, gold goes nuts.

Yea, euphoria over the CPI number was way overblown - it was nice, but shadow expectations were for 6.9% not 7.1% YOY, so we are selling off in front of the FED - on tap tomorrow

Bent.rifle... i adhere to that very ideal... from all outward appearances i am a pauper.  i live in a non-descript metal barn that infers lack instead of excess.  All systems are undercover and cannot be seen from any perspective due to private gated road.  Only way to know would be through a difficult forced entry which WILL end with fireworks of an extraordinary degree.  Super Dragon's Breath awaits for the end of the show so we can have toasted marshmallows whilst examining the defunct chaos.for.lunch.bunch.  The Few neighbors around are hard.core and will ask questions after the smoke clears.  NOBODY has a clue except you geezers whom i'm trying to edjukate by elucidating upon the many options we have at this moment in time.  Options are the key... get 'em whilst you can.  When the door soon closes and the music stops, the real chit.show begins.  Bug out facility is 12 miles away on lots of acreage with variety of insulated buildings... fully stocked pond with 3K gallons of propane hidden in buried tanks for a variety of uses.  Options my friends..options.

Unusually strong storm in the Central US this morning.  Wind strength and depth of low pressure very evident around 30 thousand feet above ground level (30H chart attached).

Satellite loop shows same.   Only attempt to open loop with broad band connection.
